Our team went to Vilagarcía (Pontevedra, Spain) to characterize the geometry and dynamic response of an old iron bridge that crosses the Umia river. On the one hand, a terrestrial laser scanner was used to obtain a reliable point cloud which is going to be utilised for developing a numerical model of the structure. On the other hand, dynamic characterization was carried out by using operational modal analysis, acquired vibration data will be used in calibration methodologies.
The studied bridge is going to be repair in order to take part of a nine kilometre tourist path called Vía Verde route. Results obtained by our teammates could be compared in the future to verify the improvement of the structure after this restoration.
